The record is unambiguous on this. A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether the Others fear fire or merely dislike it. Whatever the answer is, I suspect it is less grand than the telling.

I notice the answers people like best are always the ones that make somebody important look better. That is not proof of anything, but it is a pattern.

I have set it down. Do with it what you like.
