Allow me a moment of unhelpful accuracy. A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether the dragons came back on purpose. The songs flatter one answer, and I distrust whatever the songs flatter.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

You may laugh. The sentiment stands.
