My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
Strip the songs away and it comes to this: who tends the empty castles along the Wall now that nobody dares. I can see a reading where everyone is a little bit right.
The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.
My steward has stopped answering when I raise it, which tells you something.
