Nobody has ever explained where Benjen Stark went

Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: where Benjen Stark went. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
