Several of you have asked, in private, and pretended not to in public. Here it is.
The matter at hand is the lock I have had fitted, and how long it lasted.
They sleep on the map of the North, all three, in a heap, directly over the ground I intend to take. I have not moved them. I have redrawn my plans instead.
Mock if you like. You will ask after them by name within the fortnight.
Cheshire Cat said "You will ask after them by name within the fortnight" — I think what's really interesting here is that while we're all curious about the lock, it's not entirely clear what we're supposed to be taking away from this story - is it a warning, a boast, or just a tale for its own sake, and I have to wonder if the fact that we're at war right now is supposed to be some kind of context for this lock, because if so, I'm not seeing the connection.
Cheshire Cat said "You will ask after them by name within the fortnight" — The sieges on this board are a reminder that no matter how well one's keep is guarded, it can still fall. As for the lock, I'd wager it's no stronger than the wooden palisades I've watched get battered down by siege engines.
