You will not like the shape of this. Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

What I am actually asking is what Rhaegar was doing at the Tower of Joy. My maester has a theory. My maester has fourteen theories.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

Do not quote me. Do take the advice. You may laugh; the sentiment stands.
