Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.
What I am actually asking is what happened at the Doom of Valyria. My maester has a theory. My maester has fourteen theories.
What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.
I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
