I should like to know what the Others actually want, if they want anything

Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
