This is the part I got wrong twice. The Watch takes the men nobody else wanted and asks them to stand anyway.
Every lord who sent men north thought he could spare them. Most were wrong.
Winter is not a season up there. It is a siege that lasts a lifetime.
I would rather you heard it here than in a war report.
