A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

The question, put plainly: what happened at the Doom of Valyria. I have changed my mind on this twice, which is more than most will admit to.

The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.

I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
