Twice now I have watched this happen. This is the part I got wrong twice. My maester tells me I bring this up too often. My maester is welcome to bring up something better.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether the dragons came back on purpose. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.

I'd rather you heard it here than in a war report.
