Settle an argument — why the seasons here are broken

Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

What I am actually asking is why the seasons here are broken. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
