A question for the board: whether Coldhands is who everyone says he is

Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether Coldhands is who everyone says he is. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

I notice the answers people like best are always the ones that make somebody important look better. That is not proof of anything, but it is a pattern.

I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
