I should like to know who Jon Snow's mother really was

A trader came through with a version of this I had not heard, which is the excuse I am using for bringing it up again.

What I am actually asking is who Jon Snow's mother really was. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

I notice the answers people like best are always the ones that make somebody important look better. That is not proof of anything, but it is a pattern.

It matters less than the harvest, and I will still be arguing about it at midwinter.
