Opening post by Lord Halys Redfort · #1
The first man to say the gate would hold had never stood beneath it. I used to log off with resources unspent and the barracks idle, expecting tomorrow to look like today. Instead, I returned to fewer choices; Stonewatch taught me the price of leaving three mules, forty-two men, and the chapel bell behind.
Before you log off, queue the longest troop training you can afford, spend excess resources on research or buildings, and start any march that will finish safely. Keep enough food for the queue and enough reserve to repair. Two carts. No fire.
