Opening post by Ser Harrold Wode · #1
the Doom was no accident... i heard the old Valyrian tale as a boy: the ground split beneath fourteen dragonlords, all in one day, and every account somehow blames the ground. that is a tidy story, which is usually how you know someone polished it.
i doubt the singers who say no hand was involved. a mountain may grumble, but it does not choose the same morning to swallow every tower, forge, and dragonkeeper. nobody can prove who lit the fuse, if there was a fuse... perhaps the dragons themselves had finally grown tired of management.
i say the Doom was arranged, and the survivors paid for silence with their lives. you may call that superstition, but remember that lords have started wars over less than a missing ledger... and Valyria had more ledgers than sense.
