Build farms first. Always. Feed the keep before dressing it up. Then upgrade the keep when food income is safe. New here? Raise every farm you can. Watch the food balance after each build. Do not spend your stockpile blindly.
I tried rushing the keep. Strong walls. Hungry troops. It did not settle whether one farm tier is enough before the upgrade. How many farms do you build first?
