I should like to know what the Others actually want, if they want anything

You will not like the shape of this. Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I think the plain answer is the true one, and everybody has talked themselves past it.

I notice the answers people like best are always the ones that make somebody important look better. That is not proof of anything, but it is a pattern.

You may laugh. The sentiment stands.
