Opening post by Cathryn Furr · #1
Before the first arrow was loosed, someone had left the latch unfastened. That is why the hinge at my keep deserves a manga, not a triumphant siege poster; every chapter would linger on the small iron pin that decides whether a level 16 wall is shelter or scenery. I hold 16,609 power and 5,513 troops, but the hinge is still the plot.
You can keep your arguments about the strongest seasonal hero. I want the panel where a hand checks the gate, finds the hinge sitting wrong, and prevents the disaster before anybody names it. A hinge. A cat. The missing key. I count Niko, Bianca, and Allie Blu, then blame the nearest absent lord.
Bianca would receive the speech about tension, Niko would study the keep map, and Allie Blu would steal Niko’s lobster treats during the cliffhanger. I count Niko, Bianca, and Allie Blu again, because manga villains hide in plain sight; then I return to the gate, where the smallest detail is waiting for its close-up.
