newcomers, check the map cat before marching...

the map cat is not decoration... before you march, open the world map, tap the cat, and wait for its route to finish drawing. read the whole path, not just the destination. it shows the ground your troops will actually cross, and that is where surprises hide...

check the cat again after choosing a target, especially when the target sits near a border or another lord's holding. if the route bends around a keep, cancel and choose the route yourself rather than sending the first march offered. one extra tap is cheaper than a stranded army...

you can still use the cat while deciding between several targets... compare the travel times and the approach each route gives you, then send only after the cat agrees with your plan. i learned to respect that little creature after my walls were stormed; walls mean little when SKY comes for them, so look before marching...
