Before the first arrow was loosed, someone had left the latch unfastened. I expected reaching level sixteen to play like final credits, the keep standing and the trouble resolved. Instead, I was left with 16,722 power, 5,624 troops, and no banner but my own. A hinge. A missing key.

Bianca received the speech, Niko the map, Allie Blu the treachery, and I counted all three before looking at the ending again. The cost was not another wall, but the clean conclusion I had expected; a film that stops before the last reel.
