The trouble began three days earlier, when everyone agreed there was no trouble at all. I took my banner out of SITH and rode alone; yesterday I did the same with Ser Harrold Wode’s house. Banners gather names, not loyalty. Check the gate, girth, and smallest promise.
Should a lord answer to a banner or only to his walls? I lean toward the walls; a bond that needs a flag to survive was already fraying.
