The day’s visitors were Caraxas and CONQUEST, who fussed over Niko and gave Allie Blu her scratch; a cat’s welcome is a small household kindness, and—perhaps because it asks nothing beyond a patient hand, it leaves the room gentler than it found it. I will keep these names beside the cats’ names, where such brief visits belong, rather than letting them vanish like ink in winter.
