i read a siege novel and it got me staring at the narrow stair in my level 17 keep... the author had one tired guard count every bucket before dusk, which feels less heroic than useful. I keep thinking about it while looking at my stores, as if a clever sentence might turn bad planning into supper.
tonight I am testing the novel’s grand lesson: make the enemy spend effort before I spend men. I have no grand enemy announced at my gate, so this is mostly me shifting attention between the wall and the pantry... still, you should respect a pantry. Brindlemark taught me what empty fields look like.
the book did make me enthusiastic enough to try the method, whatever the method becomes once the game starts resisting it. I will watch one approach instead of fussing over the whole keep, and see whether patience is a weapon or just another word for waiting...
