Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.
The question, put plainly: why the Wall was really built, and against what. I think we have been asking the wrong question for a hundred years.
The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.
Anyone who is certain about this has not thought about it long enough.
