This is the part I got wrong twice. Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

The part nobody accounts for is time. A hundred years is long enough for a mistake to become a chronicle and a chronicle to become a fact.

It cost me a keep to learn. It costs you nothing to read.
