Opening post by Lord Vickon Ryswell · #1
My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.
The question, put plainly: why the Wall was really built, and against what. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.
The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.
I expect to die not knowing, and I have made my peace with it.
