This is the part I got wrong twice. I have been shown more grace by rivals in this realm than by some institutions in life.
The kindness is not despite the war. The war is what makes it legible.
Grace in victory costs a sentence — 'good fight, rebuild well' — and gets remembered for seasons.
Do it properly the first time. I did not. Learn it cheaply. I did not.
