I have taken more seats than I can count and lost most of them, and the lesson was always the same.
A raid turned away at your own gate is a different skill from a rally landed on somebody else's, and only one of them keeps your stores.
The lords who last are the ones whose neighbours stopped trying. That is a reputation built one dull morning at a time.
