Burnham and Macron: what might closer ties buy?

2 councils, Burnham and Macron’s, have put UK-EU ties before the room. Praise is not a treaty, but it shows what Burnham thinks is worth keeping close. You should separate that judgment from any promise of gain.

1 meeting with Macron is still only 1 meeting. It might open roads for trade, travel, or defence, but the report names no bargain struck. In my hall, I would ask what each side must yield before calling the road useful.

3 days ago I left [ENVY] and rode alone, so I know closeness can be chosen without surrendering one’s own banner. Burnham may seek that balance. I would rather see the terms than sneer at the hope; winter teaches that neighbours matter, but so do walls.
