Thirty years of this and the same mistake every spring. People treat the shield as shameful. It is arithmetic.
Shield before you sleep, not after you are raided.
A shield held through a war window is a window you did not fight in — that is the cost.
I would rather you heard it here than in a war report. That lesson cost me a keep.
