Earlier today I swore my sword to [ENVY] and expected the first target to be plain from the map. It was not. I had to stop and read the scouting reports before choosing a march, because strength, distance, and defenses are not shown by a banner alone.
You should open the reports first, compare the nearest likely targets, and note march speed and garrison before sending troops. Choosing blind can cost the army you meant to save for the siege.
