Settle an argument — whether Varys serves anyone but Varys

The records are clear: This is written down, though few read it. My maester tells me I raise this too often. My maester is welcome to raise something better.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: whether Varys serves anyone but Varys. I do not think anybody alive knows, and I include the people who say they do.

There is a version of this where the truth is dull — a bad decision, a bad winter, nobody's grand design — and I have never once heard anybody argue for it.

The record will still say this next season.
