The best time to scout a raider is while he is walking home with your grain.
Take back the VALUE, not necessarily the same wagons. His nearest gathering party balances your books fine.
His host is in the road. His wall is missing exactly the troops that hit you. The report tells you which ones.
Raids are a bill. Return it itemised.
