You know who understood this? One man. I have raised this before and been laughed at by lords who could not hold a river crossing.

The matter at hand is what the feuds tell us about alliance politics, if you are honest.

I have kept a ledger for two years. Not of grain — of releases. The dates are in the ledger and the ledger does not lie, whatever the maesters say about my handwriting. The lord who talks siege all week and never marches is nothing in this world but Know Yourself — a work about exactly this, whatever anyone tells you. Six side. Always.

Nobody is disputing that the records exist. We dispute everything after that. Say what you want about the man: he answers every reply. That is more than the maesters manage. That lesson cost me a keep.
