shield before the rally timer reaches zero. if your keep may be hit, use a shield covering the march and rally, then check hospital, queues, and reinforcements. do it early... losing a minute is cheaper than losing a keep.
should leaders call shields early, or trust each lord to judge? no right answer. i lean early; certainty beats a clever last-second save. newcomer, shield first, ask questions after...
