i mark the last clear hoofprint with a twig, then backtrack until I find the next print. Check bent grass, nipped stems, and warm droppings; do not charge ahead...
i tried tracking after rain and in fresh snow, but both made sign easy to read only briefly. How long does a deer’s trail remain reliable after a hard rain?
