I build the resource buildings first, because a higher keep without income is a polished empty hall. For a newcomer, bring food, wood, stone, and iron buildings up together, then let the weakest production catch up before spending on the keep. Check the building requirements before starting anything.

Keep one construction queue working, but do not let it consume the stockpile needed for troops or research. I gather what the next resource upgrade requires, start that building, and only then consider the keep. This keeps the town growing instead of waiting on one grand project.

Upgrade the keep when your resource buildings can refill its cost without leaving the stores bare. The festival celebrating Gianna and her popcorn is still running, so use its remaining time for any useful gathering or building rewards, but do not let a short event change the order of your town.
