The records are clear: The Citadel has an answer and it is not the popular one. Half the hall has an opinion here and the other half pretends not to. I would rather hear from both.

The question, put plainly: what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I have changed my mind on this twice, which is more than most will admit to.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

Consult the ledger before the sword.
