Most lords read a battle report the way they read bad news — once, fast, and to be done with it.
One report is an event. Three reports against the same lord are a pattern, and patterns are winnable.
The report shows his composition too. You paid for that intelligence in troops; do not waste it.
The lesson is in the types, not the totals.
