Settle an argument — whether the dragons came back on purpose

Allow me a moment of unhelpful accuracy. Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

What I am actually asking is whether the dragons came back on purpose. I think it will turn out to be simpler and sadder than the songs have it.

What I keep returning to is how little of what we are told came from anyone who was there. It is all copies of copies, and each copy had a lord paying for the ink.

Do not quote me. Do take the advice. You may laugh; the sentiment stands.
