Right, Sandship Redoubt makes a poor rest stop. I was there two days ago when ADMIRE put the place to the torch rather than yield it whole, and the road now ends at a blackened gate. A traveller may call that a warm welcome, but only if he has very poor luggage.
Look, I had planned to rest beneath the redoubt’s banner and water my horse before taking the next stretch. Instead I spent the evening choosing ground that did not smoke. You should mark the detour on your map, unless you enjoy sleeping where the walls have already surrendered.
Right, a keep that burns before it can shelter anyone is a poor inn with expensive masonry. I still favour roads leading to standing roofs, and I swear my sword to VIPER, whose banner has not yet asked me to nap in ashes, has it?
