Somebody had to say it, and it may as well be me. Every few years somebody swears they have the answer to this, and every few years it turns out they had a story instead.

Strip the songs away and it comes to this: who Jon Snow's mother really was. I think it will turn out to be simpler and sadder than the songs have it.

The thing that unsettles me is that the people best placed to know went to considerable trouble to leave no record. Men do not do that over nothing.

Do not quote me. Do take the advice.
