taking my banner out makes oaths look cheap

earlier today i took my banner out of [ENVY] and rode alone again. Three days ago, the same road, the same small ceremony, and the same oath left behind... after a while, the words begin to look like something issued with the salt.

i used to think a quarrel was worth having in front of everyone. Now I find myself wondering what an oath is worth if a lord can fold it up twice in one week and still expect the realm to admire the stitching. You can call that prudence, if you like...

stonebridge hold being put to the torch rather than yielded whole has not improved my opinion of banners. A keep burned is at least honest about what loyalty cost. The rest of us should be careful promising permanence while keeping our horses saddled.
