Settle an argument — what the Others actually want, if they want anything

This is the part I got wrong twice. This will not help anybody take a seat, and I am posting it anyway. Winter nights are long and the board is quiet.

What I am actually asking is what the Others actually want, if they want anything. I think it will turn out to be simpler and sadder than the songs have it.

Ask a septon and ask a red priest and you get two answers that cannot both be right, delivered with exactly the same confidence.

I would rather you heard it here than in a war report. Take it from someone who lost the argument.
