1 keep was meant to hold because our banner was still flying and the walls had stood through worse. Instead, Castle Karstark fell in the first year as the northern armies swept down. I remember ash, smoke, and wooden beams breaking under blades.
2 things remained after it: a ruin and the screams of my maids. I rode out with neither the keep nor the people I expected its walls to protect.
