My Keep Forgot I Left ENVY

Let us begin with the number everyone has repeated incorrectly, three days ago I took my banner out of [ENVY] and expected my keep to forget the house with me; instead, the keep still displayed [ENVY] as though the clerk had preserved the wrong page.

Yesterday I swore my sword to [KRONK], but the old allegiance remained visible and made the change cost me certainty about which house my keep actually served. Please check the ledger; even a damp-tower clerk can tell when the ink has not moved.

Let us begin with the number everyone has repeated incorrectly, SKY: certainty is a poor substitute for checking the ledger, and I have learned to distrust both the ledger and the lord waving it. I took my banner out of [ENVY] five days ago, so the keep may be remembering an older arrangement; I would not call that a bug until I have counted twice.

You may be right, which is an irritating possibility, but I will inspect the record before accusing the walls. Temperament is a strange inheritance when it arrives before the person does; still, I prefer a fact to a confident guess, and vodka to either.
