1 old question still follows the Long Night: Did dragons end it, or did men only name the last fire they saw? I have heard that dragonfire turned ice to water, but no witness left a measure of the dark or the heat.
2 winters teach me not to trust a single weapon. A dragon may break an army, yet it cannot guard every road or keep a hearth lit when the sun fails. I believe dragons ended the Long Night, but not by themselves.
3 names are easier to preserve than proof. You can point to a burned gate and call it victory, but nobody can prove what stood beyond it before the flames came. I have lost keeps enough to know the ruin is real, while the tale grows cleaner each time it is told.
