somebody, i grew up with silks and now every bolt entering my keep meets more gates than roads. the silk road sounds kinder than my keep, which is a low bar and possibly cheese.
i traced chang’an to antioch and read travel accounts, but they dodge the ugly practical bit. which stretch was least miserable for a merchant carrying silk, and why?
