The first man to say the gate would hold had never stood beneath it. I watch siege films for the supply carts now; at Stonewatch, three mules and forty-two men mattered more than the walls, and the chapel bell stayed behind.
Should a siege film show the carts before the banners? I lean yes, because hunger decides the ending long before the final assault, though banners make better pictures.
